Game: Basketball Dynasty Manager (“the Game”)

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you play the Game, including optional anonymous gameplay analytics.

1. Summary

2. Who this applies to

This policy applies to players of Basketball Dynasty Manager on PC / Steam.

If you use Steam, Valve may collect and process data under the Steam Privacy Policy. That processing is separate from our optional Game analytics.

3. Information we process

3.1 Stored only on your device (local)

These are needed to run the Game and are not uploaded as part of analytics unless you separately export a file yourself:

3.2 Optional analytics (only if you opt in)

If you enable “Share anonymous gameplay data” in Options, we may process:

Category Examples
Technical Platform (e.g. Windows), language/locale, app version
Identifiers Random anonymous install_id; temporary session_id
Session Session start/end, approximate session length, last screen
Gameplay Match results, team IDs used in matches, scores, win/loss, playoff flag, star-rating sums / differentials, active tactics
Progression Training plans/completions (type, position bands), coach perk picks, run start/end summaries
UI usage Which menus/screens are opened and how long they are viewed
Audio settings Menu/match/master volume levels (to see if music is turned down)
Consent Whether analytics were enabled or disabled

We design analytics not to include: your real name, email, postal address, phone number, photos, microphone/camera data, Steam friends list, chat contents, or full save-file uploads.

Note: Network transmission may involve standard connection metadata (such as IP address) processed by our infrastructure or analytics provider for security and delivery. We do not use analytics to identify you as a named person.

3.3 Manual export

Options may let you export a local analytics file (JSONL). If you send that file to us (email, Discord, etc.), we will use it only for debugging or balance analysis you requested, then delete it when no longer needed unless law requires otherwise.

3.4 Information we do not intentionally collect

4. Why we process analytics (purposes & legal bases)

If you are in the EEA/UK, we rely on:

Purpose Legal basis (GDPR)
Improve game balance (tactics, training, perks, match outcomes) Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — anonymous data, no individual profiling
Improve UX (menu timing, audio defaults) Legitimate interests
Maintain and secure analytics delivery Legitimate interests
Respond when you contact us or send an export Legitimate interests / contract / consent as applicable

Analytics are on by default; you can opt out anytime in Options. Because the data is anonymous and you retain meaningful control via opt-out, we consider our interests not overridden by your fundamental rights. If you disagree, opt out in Options.

Outside the EEA/UK, we process anonymous analytics based on our legitimate interest in improving the Game and your implicit agreement by playing (with an opt-out available at all times).

5. How we share information

5.1 Analytics provider — PostHog

When analytics are enabled, events are sent to PostHog (cloud analytics).

They act as our processor (or equivalent) for this purpose. Region depends on our PostHog project configuration (e.g. US or EU cloud).

5.2 Platform holders

Steam / Valve may process account, purchase, playtime, and anti-cheat related data under their terms. We do not control that.

5.3 Legal / safety

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of players or our service — only to the extent necessary.

5.4 No sale of personal information for money

We do not sell your personal information for money. Depending on jurisdiction (e.g. some US state laws), “share” for cross-context behavioral advertising may have a special meaning; we do not use Game analytics for cross-context ads.

6. International transfers

If our PostHog project or servers are outside your country (for example, US cloud for an EU player), data may be transferred internationally. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) as implemented by our providers. Prefer an EU PostHog project if you want to reduce EU–US transfer complexity.

7. Retention

8. Your choices and rights

In the Game

Privacy rights (where applicable)

Depending on your location (EEA/UK GDPR, certain US states, etc.), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, or port data, and to withdraw consent.

Contact: privacy@hyakaninteractive.com

We may ask for enough information to locate analytics records associated with an anonymous install id or to verify a deletion request. Because analytics are anonymous, we may not be able to link data to you without information you provide (e.g. an export file or install id).

You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Children

The Game is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided data to us via analytics or contact email, contact privacy@hyakaninteractive.com and we will delete it where required.

Steam and store age ratings / parental controls are separate from this policy.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical measures appropriate to a small indie game (HTTPS for analytics upload, opt-in gate, no intentional PII in event payloads). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate (for example in a Steam announcement or in-game notice). Continued use after an opt-in remains subject to your Options choice.
